We provide direct aid to Syrian refugees on the island of Kastellorizo

Kastellorizo (also known as Mestige) is a Greek island just two miles from Turkey. Many refugees from Syria are desperate and determined enough to swim across the sea to get there. Whole families with young children often attempt the trip. They arrive cold, hungry, without possessions, often sick and facing enormous challenges just to meet their basic needs while they stay on the island several days before transferring to the main land.

Together with the help of local people, the municipality, port authorities, doctors, the police and with the support of UNHCR, Shanti is in the process of setting up an efficient supply-chain to provide basic shelter, food and medication to those refugees arriving on the island. We are aiming to provide these basic needs for 5€ a day per refugee. Your donations will go directly to meet this goal. More information on how we are operating can be found on this site.
